EMC & Regulatory Consultation
The services offered by EMC Assist are to provide
-Design assistance to manufacturers and exporters in the fields of
the
essential requirements of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and
Electrical Safety.
-Seminars on EMC. These seminars can be tailored to suit all aspects
of
industry, including design engineers, CAD artists and management.
-Assistance in the Essential Regulatory field for products to be launched
in
South Africa. Particular emphasis on EMC, Electrical Safety, and
Telecommunications.
-Assistance in the field of EMF (Biological effects of electromagnetic
fields).
This extends through measurement, intervention, and arrangement of
discussion groups, and seminars to interested parties-
-Assistance to those companies intending to export products, extending
to
the generation of Technical Construction Files (TCF). In particular,
documentation required for the EC countries and the USA.

The main intended market is the manufacturing industry, with particular
emphasis on, but not limited to, the electronics field. This is applied
to
products intended for the SA market, as well as those for export.
The path to export is particularly difficult, with local EMC and Safety
rules and
standards. For example, export of any product to any European country
requires a Declaration of Compliance, which must contain proof that
the
product complies with Directives issued by the European Parliament.
Preparation of this documentation is essential to smooth, trouble-free
export.
Background
I have been associated with the EMC, Safety and Regulatory aspects
of
manufacturing, import and export for a number of years.
I am the Chairman of the SA National Committee of CISPR, which is
administered by the SABS.
I am a member or advisor of SABS committees in the following
EMC
Telecommunications
Standards writing
Explosive detonators
Convener of the SABS working group on Biological effects of Electromagnetics
I am a member of the ICASA Standards Liaison Committee.
My experience in product certification for local and international markets,
and
knowledge of the key players in other countries, through my activities
in national
and international standards organizations (CISPR, IEC, ICASA SLC, and
SABS
technical committees), give a unique access to necessary information.
